Selected Achievements
Leadership/Creation of General Motors Environmental Principles. Served as Chairman of the "Environmental Policy Committee" that wrote the environmental principles that are the foundation of GM corporate policy today worldwide.
Cost Effective Regulatory Compliance. Manager of work team that assisted in the reorganization of environmental personnel in GM North America. Created and implemented processes to ensure environmentally compliant GM manufacturing plants. Efforts contributed to GM becoming profitable again in North America.
Proactive Planning and Execution. Lead group that performed a form of "hospice" to closed manufacturing plants. My team planned, managed and performed the final management activities to insure proper plant decommissioning. These tasks include working with hostile neighborhoods, workforce and management in a positive, considerate partnership. Revised decommissioning projects such that GM gains revenue, and changed the way business is done in the demolition industry.
Career History
Program Manager, Programs & Services, General Motors Worldwide Facilities Group (WFG), 2001 to Present. Provide integrated planning, project management and communications between GM divisions & staffs to the WFG Strategic Business Unit. Develop communicate WFG programs with corporate staff, divisions and manufacturing plant executive personnel. Represent WFG as a "lone voice" in planning, budget and operations issues.
Regional Manager, Plant Decommissioning Activity/Site Manager, GM WFG, 1997 to Present. Managed up to 12 Site Managers and over 500 project-determined (contract/hourly/salary) personnel in the plant decommissioning activity; controlled 12 million square feet of manufacturing space and appropriations of $98 million dollars. Decommissioned sites included large manufacturing complexes (such as Buick City in Flint, MI) to warehouses and were located throughout the United States.
Manager, Environmental Engineering, GM North American Operations, 1993 to 1997. Controlled a $16.5 million budget and supervised up to 18 full-time GM/Contract engineers. Lead a reorganized, common lean support function of all GM/Delphi facilities in the U.S. Launched as a special assignment an Intranet website (developed and input the first toxics emission report on the GM.com web site).
Superintendent of Environmental Management, GM North American Truck Division, 1992 to 1993. Proactive environmental compliance and permitting programs for twelve assembly plants and two metal fabrication plants.
Senior Staff Environmental Engineer, GM Truck & Bus Division, 1985 to 1992. Developed regulatory compliance programs for several manufacturing plants. Managed the division’s pollution prevention program and several cleanup projects for shutdown facilities, Superfund.
Environmental Auditor/Project Engineer, Environmental Activities Staff, 1979 to 1985. Performed periodic regulatory and engineering compliance evaluations at GM plants.
Process Engineer/Foreman, GM Fisher Body Division, 1976 to 1979. Supervisor of wastewater treatment plant.

Created and implemented in a "Trade Show" format a series of displays that has been reviewed by top management, board of directors, and outside stakeholders of General Motors. The displays show how the GMVO/WFG organizations contribute to GM’s success. |
